We’ve just had our visit from the Garden Centre Association. Each year we get visited by the auditors who turn up out of the blue and mark all areas of the centre in terms of quality standards so it’s been all hands to deck this morning.

May is all about the Barbecue at Bents. I’ve got high hopes for outdoor entertaining this year and I’ve got a good feeling that the weather is going to be kind…surely it couldn’t be any worse than last summer.

It's time to start working on the lawn and it will benefit hugely from a feed and weed/mosskiller. I am sure there will be a fair few kick abouts happening this summer – inspired by a certain football tournament – my two boys will definitely be wanting to practice their skills so I want the lawn in good shape as soon as possible.

We’ve announced our Charity of the Year for 2010 and I’m delighted that it is the Ronald McDonald House at Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool. My family has had personal experience of the care provided by this facility so it is a charity very close to my heart.
