Happy Ending for Mia and the Wolf as Bents Announces
(28/03/2008)
But before Bents could focus on a new challenge, there was one final – and very important – job that had to be done; to present Mia Loudon, who has been the face of Bents 2007 Charity of the Year, with a cheque for the Imagine Appeal at Alder Hey Hospital. On Friday 28th March, Mia visited the Halliwell Jones Stadium to meet Warrington Wolves player, Louis Anderson, who presented Mia with a cheque for £3300.
Bents is now focusing on its 2008 charity and the Warrington Wolves have kindly shown their support to this year’s fundraising campaign in memory of their ex-captain Mike Gregory who suffered from Progressive Muscular Atrophy, a rare form of MND.
MND is a life changing illness that affects people from all walks of life and has recently had its profile raised on a local basis following the untimely death of Mike Gregory who was a player at Warrington Wolves Rugby Club for 12 years. Bents received many suggestions for a new charity but the MND Association was nominated more than any other.
Says Joan Fishwick of the South Lancashire Branch: “The Motor Neurone Disease Association is the only national charity in the UK working to help people with MND securing the care and support they need, and promoting research into causes, treatment and cure. We are delighted that Bents have chosen the MND Association and even more delighted that the South Lancashire Branch will benefit directly from their fundraising efforts.”
Adds Matthew Bent, Managing Director at Bents Garden & Home: “We are delighted to announce our support for the South Lancashire branch as this means we can help local people who are suffering from the disease, helping to provide essential equipment and much needed respite care.
“We are looking forward to another year of fantastic fundraising events, but there is one last thank you we must make before we focus on our new campaign, and that is to Mia Louden and her family. Mia has helped us throughout the year to raise the profile of the Imagine Appeal and we are delighted to present her with this cheque which will help towards the care of children at Alder Hey.”
