On Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th March, Bents Garden & Home will be joined by RHS Gold Medalist and Orchid Expert Chris Channon as part of the Centre’s 3rd annual Orchid Festival.
Chris Channon founded Deva Orchids, one of the UK’s main growers of orchids, and has now retired from the business to dedicate his time to presenting and sharing his knowledge about these spectacular plants.
Says Matthew Bent, Managing Director of Bents Garden & Home: “We are delighted to be joined by Chris at this year’s Orchid Festival. He is a hugely respected orchid expert and I am sure our customers will benefit greatly from his knowledge.”
Chris will be holding a number of demonstrations and talks over the weekend and will also be available to give one-to-one advice at Orchid Clinics which will run from 9am on both Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th March. Customers are invited to bring in any problem plants to receive specialist advice and recommendations.
The Orchid Festival, which is already underway, features a wide variety of specimens with new plants being introduced each week. Bents is one of only two places to sell the Fancy Fresco, a beautiful moth orchid which is also available from London’s Kew Gardens.
Matthew continues: “This is our third Orchid Festival and the houseplant department looks fantastic. We must say a big thank you to the houseplant team for organizing the event; it is a further endorsement of their commitment and expertise and demonstrates why they are deserving winners of the GCA’s award for Best Houseplant Department in the UK 2010.”
A wide range of Moth and Slipper varieties are also joined by a number of Dendrobium plants, which can be displayed as an outside patio plant in the summer months, as well as a full spectrum of specialist orchid care products including feeds, pots and clips.
