July Tips
Flower Garden
Carry on pruning shrubs which flowered in spring & early summer & then feed with a multi-purpose plant food.
Roses
Continue to trim back & feed roses that have finished their first flush of blooms. Spray as necessary against pests & diseases.
In The Greenhouse
Tomatoes should start fruiting this month. Keep the plants well supported & remove side shoots regularly.
Lawn Care
Hopefully all that hard work you did in spring will have paid off, & your lawn will be looking green & velvety. Continue to feed your lawn & try to mow it twice a week, though once will be fine.
Containers
Water containers everyday in hot weather, hanging baskets can be watered twice daily. Feed all containers once a week with a liquid plant food.
Water Features
Waterlilies should be flowering now, so if you are thinking about getting new aquatic plants, now is the time.
The Herb Garden
Continue to harvest herbs for drying or freezing. The first week of the month is usually the best to cut Lavender for drying out.
