After what feels like one of the coldest and wettest starts to the year, it is a joy to see the appearance of one of our favourite flowers, the primrose; one of the surest signs that spring is on its way.

It may be small, but the primrose is packed with colour and prettiness, and at this time of year can add an easy, instant and much needed colour in the garden.

Undercover shopping for your plants

Our Open Skies Glasshouse is alive with colour and packed with primroses and other spring flowering plants. And don’t forget that Open Skies is the perfect undercover environment which allows you to shop for your outdoor plants and gardening needs whatever the weather.

At the moment our Container Boutique is brimming with colourful containers which can be transported straight into the garden, or why not have a go at creating one yourself…

Create your own

Our range of Elho pots is the perfect place to start with bright pink and purple containers providing the first hit of colour. Our plant area experts recommend putting small pieces of broken up polystyrene in the bottom for drainage, before filling ¾ full with a multi-purpose compost.

Next put in a multi-bulb Tete-a-Tete daffodil, positioning it in the centre of the pot before adding primroses around the edge and topping up with compost. We’ve got some beautiful primroses to choose from with flowers in a variety of colours.

It really couldn’t be easier…whether it’s a colourful creation of your own or one of our beautiful pre-planted pots. And what better way to beat the weather blues than by looking out onto the start of spring.
