Planting Instructions:
Only hardy in really warm sheltered places. In most places it is wise to lift the corms late in the autumn when the foliage has completely died down to store the corms in dry sand in a cool, airy, frostfree place after 2 weeks of drying at 22-25°C.[sr]Potculture: Babianas are best grown in pots - 4 or 5 corms in a 10 cm/4 in. poy ot 12 corms in a 20 cm/8 in. pot - and are kept moderately dry until roots are formed and young sprouts are showing. Then watering is gradually increased as the season. A light application of a complete fertilizer when the shoots firstplants develop and are freely watered during the flowering appear and weak liquid manure when the flower spikes appear is beneficial. When the flowers fade and the stems show sign of decay, water should be gradually withheld to induce a thorough ripening for the next year. The pots should be stored in a dry place until the time for repotting comes. When the corms should be carefully cleaned and all the offsets removed. Storage of pots is best at a temperature of 13-16°C.
