Game 1: The Bookworm Game: Be the first to gather 10 bookworm cards for Matilda by crafting words from your hand of cards. A three-letter word nets you 1 bookworm card, but create four or five-letter words, and you'll earn even more!
Game 2: Matilda’s Word Grid Game: Race against the clock to form as many words as possible in one minute. A 4 x 4 grid of 16 cards with letters faces up is set on the table, and the timer begins. Players must note down as many words as they can using the 16 letters on the grid. The player with the most correctly spelled words wins the round and claims a Bookworm card. The first to collect 5 Bookworm cards triumphs.
Game 3: Matilda’s Wordstack Game: Each player starts with 10 cards face up, and 5 more cards are dealt face up in the middle, forming the stack. Players take turns adding letters from their cards to create words. Longer words earn more bookworm cards. Adding a letter atop an existing one scores extra points. The first player to collect 10 Bookworm cards becomes the winner.
Each of these three imaginative spelling games accommodates 2 to 4 players and is suitable for kids aged 6 years and older.
